Java Developer (Contract)
Location: Glasgow, Scotland Country: UK Rate: £400 - £500 per day
 

Job Title: Java Developer
Location: Glasgow, Scotland (3 days per week onsite)
Salary/Rate: £400-500/day INSIDE IR35 depending on experience
Start Date: 20/05/2024
Job Type: Contract

Java Back End Developers are required to work for a globally recognised Financial Services Organisation, on an initial 12 month contract based in Glasgow.

Required Skills/Experience

  1. Recent experience with using a JVM language (Java/Scala/Kotlin, preferably Java 11+)
  2. Understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture
  3. Understanding of RESTful APIs and web technologies
  4. Understanding of relational databases
  5. Understanding of Data structures, Space/Time Complexity
  6. Experience in all the stages of software development life cycle (requirements, design, architecture, development, testing, deployment, release and support)
  7. A solid approach to writing unit level tests using mocking frameworks, as well as automating component, integration and end-to-end tests

Desirable Skills/Experience
Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:

  1. Understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
  2. Understanding of dependency injection frameworks (Spring/Spring Boot, etc.)
  3. Understanding of security frameworks/standards
  4. Understanding of data streaming and messaging frameworks (Kafka, Spark, etc.)
  5. Understanding of distributed tracing and monitoring (Zipkin, OpenTracing, Prometheus, ELK stack, Micrometer metrics, etc.)
  6. Understanding of containers (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.)
  7. Experience in automating deployment, releases and testing in continuous integration, continuous delivery pipelines
