The Health Business Solutions Unit currently has an opening for a Macintosh Systems Administrator. This position is based at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direct supervision of the Senior Macintosh Systems Administrator and the Network Project Manager, the Macintosh Systems Administrator provides second tier technical support for customers' workstations (currently Apple iMacs and Linux thin clients), as well as auxiliary assistance with Apple Servers and XSAN. The Macintosh Systems Administrator interacts daily with supervisors, peer groups, and customers. This position will require assigning tasks to Tier 1 personnel and managing such assignments start to finish. The qualified candidate should be familiar with service ticketing software and processes. This individual must demonstrate a superior phone manner. The ability to communicate clearly with customers and evaluate their needs is essential to the position. Candidate will most likely be assigned to first shift. Hours are negotiable.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university and 1 + year of experience. An additional 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of the Bachelor's degree requirement.
REQUIRED SKILLS: 3-5 years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in computer system/network engineering; Includes one year of specialized experience related to managing Apple Network environments. Advanced knowledge of Apple OSX (10.4.x and 10.5.x). Proficient with general networking (DHCP, TCP/IP, DNS). Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers, management, and subordinates. Practical knowledge of OSX Client Management.
DESIRED SKILLS: The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following certifications: APPLE Certified Technical Coordinator (ACTC); ACMT (Apple Certified Macintosh Technician); Security Plus. Proficiency with JAMF Software's Casper Suite. Web design (CSS, PHP, HTML) expertise is highly favoured. Experience with UniCenter Universal Service Desk, ACD Call Center Systems. Familiarity with the military community is an added plus.   Desired Skills:
