| In this survey, earning power for contractors peaks at ages 55
to 59, with a rate of $66.69, just barely topping the 50-to-54 age
group, with an average rate of $66.38. Full time employees top out
at ages 60 to 65, with an average salary of $81,000.
Across all age groups, however, the IT field continues to be rather lucrative, with workers in their early twenties pulling in sizeable starting salaries.
