This chart compares hourly rates and yearly salaries by gender. The average rate of female contractors on the chart is $46.41, about $3 more an hour than male contractors reported earning, which was $43.42. Converted to yearly income, that would be females, $89,107, and males, $83,366. On the other hand, in the full time worker category, males' average salary was $60,941, compared to females' average salary of $54,588.

*To compare contractor rate with salary, we multiplied the hourly rate by 1,920 hours, assuming a 40-hour work week, two weeks of vacation and 10 holidays.
