Salary Survey 2000
Pay satisfaction by income
Yearly Income* Adequate Overpaid Underpaid
Under $44,000 16.9% 0.5% 82.6%
44,000-$100,000 41.2% 1.1% 57.6%
Over $100,000 65.2% 2.9% 31.9%
Overall 32.4% 1% 66.7%

It's not surprising -- people earning more than $100,000 a year are happiest with their income. Almost 3 percent even think they are overpaid. For this satisfaction survey, contractors' rates were converted to yearly income. The chart represents a combination of the opinions of contract and full time IT workers.

*The yearly income includes both full time salaries and contractor rates. We converted contractor rates to yearly income by multiplying the hourly rate by 1,920 hours, assuming a 40-hour work week, two weeks of vacation and 10 holidays.
