Keyword Search
To pinpoint just the jobs you want, refine your search with Boolean operators. These operators allow you to specify the relationship between the keywords you have entered:
  • And will return only jobs that contain both/all words joined by and. For example, "HTML and ColdFusion" will find job ads that mention both HTML and ColdFusion.

  • Or will return jobs that contain at least one of the words joined by or. Because newer technologies often have several accepted spellings, you may want to use or to search for variations. For example, if you search for "AS400 or AS/400 or AS 400" you'll find all job ads that include that skill, even if the spelling varies.

  • Not will return jobs that do not have this word. For example, a search for "Oracle not Sybase."

  • Near will return job ads in which the words joined by near are close to one another in the ad. For example, a search for "AS/400 near analyst" will likely find AS/400 analyst jobs.

  • * acts as a wildcard and will return jobs with words that contain that root. For example, a search for "photo*" would return job ads that include Photoshop, PhotoEdit, Photodeluxe, etc. Please note that for the search engine to interpret the * correctly the wildcard word or phrase must be enclosed in quotes.

  • ( ) will group operations together, just like in math. For example, if you would like to find a job ad that includes either Java and NT or Java and C++, search for "Java and (NT or C++)." You will see job ads that have Java, plus either NT or C++.
