Description
Key Role:
Maintain responsibility for SATCOM engineering duties and design, plan, install, integrate, and maintain backbone core-area tactical and strategic communications networks, including portions of the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) and the Global Information Grid (GIG). Gather mission needs statements Initial Capabilities Document (MNSICD), operational requirements Capability Development Documents (ORCDD), and Capability Production Documents (CPD) for Army's tactical communications systems and translate requirements into technical solutions that are standards-based and cost efficient. Develop network architecture for adjacent higher and lower units, allied nations, other government agencies, and commercial service interfaces. Maintain responsibility for transmission aspects of the WIN-T Increment 1 and Regional Hub Node architecture, including design, development, integration, and implementation of the physical network underlying these systems, such as terrestrial line-of-sight, satellite communications, and Wireless LAN and WAN transmission systems. Provide engineering expertise to analyze and implement satellite-based communication systems and perform link budget analysis over commercial and military satellites for C, X, Ku, and Ka-Band frequencies. Analyze existing operational DoD satellite communication systems to optimize bandwidth utilization and expand to meet new operational requirements. Develop new advanced two-way, COTS-based, IP-SATCOM VSAT terminals to operate over commercial and next generation military satellites, participate in technical working groups, and convey requirements and thoughts to other subject matter experts.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
-Experience with SATCOM engineering with military communication networks
-Knowledge of Linkway Operations
-Ability to work with installation, safety, and integration teams to ensure successful project implementations
-Ability to travel 20-30% of the time and occasionally up to 50% during peak installation periods
-Secret clearance required
-HS diploma or GED required
Additional Qualifications:
-Experience with managing small to medium projects from the development effort to the execution point
-Knowledge of military communication, including WGS, GBS, DVB-RCS, JIPM, NCW, and ViaSat Linkway
-BA or BS degree in EE, CS, or Information Systems preferred
Clearance:
