Senior WebSphere Administrator

Summary:
This position is responsible for installation, implementation, upgrading, performance, security, patching and monitoring of Sterling Jewelers Inc.'s WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment (WASND) mid-tier environments

This position is responsible for maximizing availability and performance for all WASND and IBM HTTP Server Plugins and IBM HTTP Server systems

This position is responsible for providing technical assistance to the entire IT staff of developers, operators and administrators

Accountabilities: This position is responsible for:

• Possessing and developing a detailed understanding of WebSphere Application Server Clustering for High Availability
• Programming and documenting system utilities with Bash/Korn Shell, Jython/Jacl and Java programming languages Possessing and developing a detailed understanding of J2EE standards, JDBC configuration, JNDI Directory Services, SOAP and WebServices
• Possessing and developing a detailed understanding of WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus
• Possessing and developing a detailed understanding of WebSphere Commerce Server
• Possessing and developing a detailed understanding of WebSphere MQ
• Providing maximum system availability and uptime for our WebSphere environments
• Monitoring, tracking, trending, analysis and tuning of the WebSphere environments
• Validating backup techniques to ensure ease of system recoverability
• Project management of assigned Enterprise Services projects or components of projects from Application Services
• Maintaining the system integrity and security by following the published Server Configuration Standards and Sarbanes-Oxley IT General Controls
• Timely security patching and applying support fixes as required by varying compliance initiatives such as PCI and NPI
• Support and implementation of the Security policies and Controls as defined and developed by the Information Security team
• Timely and accurate completion of other tasks as defined by the Manager of Enterprise Services - WebSphere Systems.
• Participating in an "on-call" rotation

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or equivalent
• 8 years of experience in Information Technology utilizing WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment
• Experience with installing, patching, upgrading, administering, Scripting and maintaining WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment clustered environments
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly and succinctly communicate technical issues in English to individuals with various technical backgrounds
• 24/7/365 on-call availability
• Experience with installing, patching, upgrading, administering, Scripting and maintaining WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment clustered environments
• IBM Certified System Administrator - WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment, desired
• IBM Certified System Administrator - WebSphere Commerce, desired
