Mission IT Support HPC Systems Analyst/Administrator (Job Number:331366)
Description:
Required: Ten years' experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and operating high performance computing (HPC) systems using a Linux- or Unix-based operating system, high speed interconnections, and parallel file systems serving a scientific computing user environment. Demonstrated ability to provision the various components of the system appropriately, establishing interactive, batch, I/O and system management nodes correctly and consistently.
Uses combined hardware and software skills and tools to track system-wide performance and reliability issues.
A good understanding of batch scheduling, including configuration of queues and setting of priority schemes is required. Familiarity with a modern debugger such at TotalView or DDT a plus. Ability to program in one or more high level languages, or write and modify scripts in PERL, Python, unix Shell commands, or similar tools.
Customer service ethic and willingness to delve into difficult or ambiguous situations with the goal of providing customer satisfaction. Ability to work well in a high performing team, take ownership of specific job responsibilities, and initiate action to improve the operating efficiencies of the scientific computing systems.
Desired: Additional experience with Lustre, MOAB, SLURM, Cray Linux Environment, GPFS, Infiniband interconnects, Ethernet, Kerberos, Fortran, C, C++, math libraries, SPLUNK, log configuration and security plans in a DOE or DoD environment.
Hardware maintenance and repair experience including isolation of failing components, removal and replacement of node level equipment, and component replacement such as disks, memory, or motherboards.
Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline plus 9+ years' experience, or an additional 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Advanced degree preferred.
