JOB SUMMARY:
The SAIC Integrated Systems Group has an opening for a Software Systems Engineer in Alexandria, VA to provide systems integration and software engineering services for an enterprise intelligence system.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review and analyze Software Problem Reports (SPR) reported from users.
Propose recommendations and effort required to resolve SPRs.
Knowledge of analytical tools and skills to draft recommendations, resolutions, and install/uninstall instructions to support incremental releases.
Support a complex enterprise architecture with parallel and competing baselines to meet challenging mission goals, scalability requirements and allow for a flexible system evolution, within a responsive and iterative agile development environment.
Be a key member of the team working on a Government Program that bases the supported architecture on a central virtualized enterprise with implementation of Oracle and other databases.
Support development, operation and maintenance of Legacy applications, and supportive infrastructure.
Support working with existing team on the over-all systems architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance.
Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a look out for new technologies and work with management and development team in bringing new technologies.
Candidate must be able to provide meaningful insight from commercial knowledge and experience to shape the organization's vision for future work in Cloud.
Candidate must be able to work with a minimum of technical supervision and supplemental engineering support, while responding efficiently to multiple program priorities.
Work with engineering teams to design and optimize a wide variety of development projects using a variety of development tools and practices.
Work with a team that is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of several program efforts.
Support the design, implementation, and integration of software solutions that primarily support the integration and upgrade of COTS/GOTS, but also integration with developed systems and coordination with system partners.
Must be able to work in a dynamic highly flexible, team-oriented environment with individual responsibilities for internal and customer deliverables and schedule.
Willingness to learn new techniques and an ability to accomplish tasks through research and self-study.
Qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Position requires an active DoD Secret Clearance upgradable to a TS/SCI.
BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, and 5 years of relevant experience.
Experience designing, building, and maintaining information systems utilizing a combination of COTS/GOTS software, .Net, Oracle and SQL Server, detailed knowledge of current software development practices, trends, and standards, and have experience with object-oriented languages and methodologies to support the design, development, and maintenance of software applications and systems.
Excellent analytical skills to evaluate integration of multiple products, to include COTS/GOTS and other developed systems.
Must have exposure to system/development oriented tools to support but not limited to system administration functions, network management, VMWare, as well as Java, Widgets, Servlets, JSP either in a professional environment or from school based instruction.
Ability to think independently and contribute to the overall effort without much direction.
Ability to work well within a team environment.
Ability to work well under pressure.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with cloud-based technologies, including Hadoop HDFS, MapReduce, and Cloudbase.
Strong JAVA software development skills with demonstrated experience on successful JAVA development projects.
Knowledge of multiple systems, platforms, and programming languages.
Solid understanding of OO design in Java and/or JavaScript, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
Knowledge of enterprise Java, JavaScript, and/or Java cloud libraries.
Experience working on CMM or CMMI projects in a software development role.
AJAX, YUI, Groovy, Grails, REST, Ozone, SOAP, XML, Web Services, Perl, Shell Scripting, Oracle SQL, BEA Weblogic/J2EE Application Server (or similar).
