The successful candidate will be part of a fast growing development team that produces quality products using the most current technology.

This is a 6 month contract to hire opportunity. Third party resumes will not be considered. Relocation is NOT available for this role.

The Database Administrator will work with the development team and product managers to provide advice and guidance on setting up the table structure and design in order to effectively support the new applications. The successful candidate will also work closely with the development team in reviewing the stored procedures to ensure that they are optimized according to best practices.

Job Function-
This job is 75% Development DBA and 25% Production DBA work. Responsible for database server setup of SQL Server 2008 R2 and creating a Development, QA, UAT and production environments.

  • Work with management in defining the DB standards and best practices to implement and continue to improve and refine them.
  • Write and update advanced T-SQL stored procedures and SSRS packages for business reporting purposes
  • Create of any new database instances required to support the implementation and use of applications developed for our customers.
  • Provide support and maintenance for production databases
  • Maintain and monitor database backups and rotating archives of backup files
  • Configure and monitor database mirroring for mission-critical databases
  • Daily database server health checks for: backups, jobs, mirroring, replication, etc.
  • Monitor and profile production database Servers for load and performance bottlenecks
  • Query optimization and performance tuning
  • Assist application developers with database schema and procedure changes according to best practices
  • Assist application developers in optimizing their stored procedures according to best practices
  • Analysis and approval of database schema and procedure changes from the sandbox to Development, QA, UAT, and production environments
  • Performs database, application and system architecture designs, database modelling and logical and physical designs.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field required.

Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years of direct experience as a MS SQL Server DBA supporting development, production, implementations, and administration.
  • Must have experience with MS Windows Server, SQL SERVER 2008, Replication, Mirroring High Availability (cluster Servers) and DB clustering.
  • Expertise and knowledge of best practices with SQL SSRS
  • T-SQL development of stored procedures and queries.
