Lead UNIX Engineer
Atlanta, GA (Midtown)
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide administration of UNIX Operating Systems at the Bank. This includes but is not limited to the installation and maintenance of hardware and software to run the Bank’s UNIX based applications. Additional responsibilities include evaluating new technologies, provide guidance and support to junior UNIX administrators and working closely with other IT Teams to design and implement hardware solutions to support the Bank’s application infrastructure. Advanced knowledge of Solaris 10 and RedHat Enterprise Linux v5 and above is required. Moderate to advanced knowledge of administrating Weblogic, JBOSS, Tomcat and Open Source products is desired.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Builds and maintains the Bank’s UNIX based infrastructure.
- Meet with and work with vendors, various levels of Bank management, and our business units.
- Presents server hardware and software recommendations to senior executives, management and technical staff.
- The ability to follow change control policies.
- Provides technical support and leadership, guidance, recommendations, and backup for other engineers.
- Prepares and provides reports for management review showing technology use at the Bank.
- Shell Scripting in a variety of different shells.
- Have experience in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity operations on UNIX environment
- General knowledge of SAN based disk infrastructure (Fiber/iSCSI attached disk storage).
- Knowledgeable about Patch management procedures on both Solaris and RHEL.
- Excellent verbal and written skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Netbackup and disk based backups.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize the Bank’s UNIX systems.
- Provide day to day server hardware and software support for the Linux Systems
- Analyze System performance, conduct troubleshooting and execute break/fix solutions
- Participate in the on call rotation.
- Install, configure, and trouble shoot virtual systems including VMware hosts and guests.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of technical and non-technical staff members.
- You must have ten or more years of professional experience as a UNIX Administrator.
- A thorough understanding of troubleshooting and logic.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of UNIX systems administration.
- Knowledge of project planning and implementation is required.
