Description

The IT Product Engineering Manager (PEM) is responsible for leading and owning the IT teams to deliver system design, development, and deployment projects. Another primary responsibility of this role is partnering with the business unit to define and deliver solutions that meet the business needs. This role serves as the owner of the IT team that gathers and understands business requirements. PEMs own the IT teams to design, develop, and deploy systems and solutions. Additionally, this position plays a significant role in ensuring that the solution being delivered meets the anticipated outcome, as defined by their Business Partners, and is being delivered to the quality standards identified and/or outlined by both their Business and IT Partners. IT Product Engineering Managers are responsible for the work performance and the quality of the deliverables produced by the individuals assigned to their initiatives.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Owns all roles of the IT delivery team in the support of development of practices, standards, and software that supports various strategic IT projects
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to develop standard principles for code development and implementation
- Collaborate with Business Solutions Center to identify technical solutions for addressing business needs and ensure work delivered remains consistent with the solutions initially identified
- Build good relationships with business and IT partners
- Collaborate with the Business Owners to identify their needs and help determine: business priorities, product roadmaps, value proposition, scope, business requirements, and timelines
- Work with Portfolio Owners to satisfy their needs, while staying within the boundaries of the scope, and handle new requests in a reasonable manner
- Review requirements and business timelines with Release Management, Development and QA teams to help determine release dates and identify opportunities to combine functionality for efficiency gains
- Own projects and teams through all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including monitoring and guiding all project management tasks (work planning, estimating, resource allocation and management, risk/issue management, change request management, financial management)
- Provide direction and monitoring of work progress including weekly status on deliverables
- Manage the systems/solution architecture by ensuring the optimal systems design for the project, leveraging company architecture standards and best practices, balancing near-term/long-term architecture trade-offs, and documenting and managing architecture assumptions.
- Work with all roles on the IT delivery team (for example, Architects, System/Application Engineers, Software Developers, Business Analysts, and Quality Analysts) to learn, understand, and apply the AutoTrader.com enterprise architecture, and in doing so, ensure the proper use of applications, platforms, patterns, technologies, etc.
- Own the IT team in serving business units with a customer service mindset
- Work with other IT disciplines to develop estimates of the work effort required to deliver requested enhancements; assist with estimating and forecasting resource needs for anticipated future work
- Escalate issues to leadership appropriately and quickly
- Lead change and improvement within the team
- Deliver solutions with predictability, consistency, repeatability, and high quality

Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years IT experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a complex systems/applications development environment, with at least 4 years of team leadership experience
- Minimum 3 years leading IT teams and projects from conception through implementation
- Demonstrated leadership in an IT organization
- Strong Project Management experience in a large application environment is desired
- Experience with relevant software preferred, including Microsoft Office applications, MS Project, Visio, and MS PowerPoint
- Experience and a proven track record of success creating change within IT teams to increase project delivery competency
- Team leadership and resource management experience within an IT organization
- Experience in managing development and delivery of projects while simultaneously ensuring high team morale, high productivity, high quality, and on-time/on-budget delivery
- Proven track record of deploying and managing large scale business systems
- Experience with mobile website and application delivery (specifically on iOS and Android platforms), is highly preferred

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in MIS/IT or Engineering
