Job Responsibilities:
The Infrastructure Specialist’s role is to design and deploy enterprise infrastructure solutions as well as to advise on regional infrastructure designs, installations and upgrade of IT infrastructure systems, with a focus on virtualization, monitoring and storage. The Infrastructure Specialist will ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house infrastructure that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by following industry standard best practices and ensuring complete build guides accompany all major infrastructure deployments. The Infrastructure Specialist will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
Strategy & Planning
- Work closely with other systems professionals to ensure proposed and existing infrastructure solutions are aligned with organizational goals and objectives
- Provide infrastructure expertise, direction, and assistance to systems professionals and software development teams
- Provide infrastructure support for all enterprise systems across the organization
- Work closely with other IT leaders to develop a long-term vision, strategy, and roadmaps for managing and maintaining development, test and production environments
- Perform capacity planning analysis and other needs assessments in all technical environments
- Contribute to providing a highly available environment by helping to mature an effective proactive monitoring solution Deployment & Operational Management
- Collaborate with IT professionals, designers, and system owners to design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end infrastructure solutions
- Install, configure, optimize, troubleshoot and support enterprise infrastructure
- Effectively troubleshoot infrastructure issues (for example performance bottlenecks, configuration faults)
- Produce accurate and informative technical documentation
- Prioritize and execute tasks in a high-energy environment
- Work effectively under pressure, balancing multiple requirements.
- Work well with others and enjoy sharing experiences and knowledge with junior resources.
- Review new and existing IT projects, systems designs, and procurement/outsourcing plans for compliance with IT standards and architectural plans.
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Four-year college diploma or university degree in computer science/engineering or information systems.
- 10+ hands-on experience with Microsoft Infrastructure applications and solutions
- 7+ years of extensive experience in virtual infrastructure operations, preferably with VMWare.
- 3+ years of hands-on SQL Server administration experience
- 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Systems Center and NetApp Storage an asset.
- Proven experience in overseeing the linking of cross-functional infrastructure solutions between enterprise and regional environments Personal Attributes

- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to quickly gain an understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Superior written and oral communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal and consultative skills.

- Able to conduct research into application integration issues and products. Must have a valid passport and the ability to travel internationally.
