Description

The Senior Project Manager role manages large-scale, high-risk technical programs or projects. The role manages matrixed, cross-functional teams responsible for delivering defined technical project outputs on time, within budget, and with quality results. Senior Project Managers plan, organize, monitor, and oversee one or more projects to meet defined business specifications. They work closely with the Enterprise Program Management Office, as well as the IT Owners of their respective projects to guide efforts toward achieving intended business results. The Senior Project Manager has primary responsibility for defining, planning, tracking and managing large, complex technology projects, for identifying key resources and providing the direction they require in order to meet project objectives. They also ensure appropriate management and business involvement throughout the life of the project. This particular Project Manager should also have experience managing projects with an Agile methodology.

Responsibilities
- Lead multiple large-scale projects to successful completion, managing scope, schedule and cost.
- Provide input to refine company-established PM Methodology
- Mentor IT Project Managers in the use of industry best practices
- Develop project management deliverables, within compliance of approved methodology requirements.
- Communicate a clear vision of the project's objectives, and motivate the project team to achieve them.
- Organize the work into manageable work packages or phases and determine an effective approach to completing the work
- Develop accurate estimates for effort, budget and schedule.
- Analyze risks, establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating mitigating action.
- Provide tracking and reporting on progress to plan, cost and schedule reporting, and change control.
- Analyze the actual performance against the plan and make adjustments consistent with plan objectives.
- Manage relationships with project stakeholders, both within IT and the PMO, as well as external business stakeholders
- Establish and publish clear priorities among project activities.
- Resolve conflicts and remove obstacles to ensure the project team can make progress
- Manage the financial aspects of the project: budgeting, estimate to actual variance, etc.
- Develop and maintain all project management documentation.
- Effectively coordinate the activities of the team to meet project milestones.
- Proactively manage change to baselined scope, schedule and cost variables, communicating impacts and facilitating decisions
- Provide performance input to team members' functional managers
- Resolve issues that impact the project in a timely, effective manner.
- Manage vendor relations and procurement related to the project requirements
- In Agile projects/environment, lead multiple medium-scale projects to successful completion, managing scope, schedule and cost.
- In Agile projects/environment, consult product owners in the prioritization of product features along development timelines.
- In Agile projects/environment, conduct iteration planning and retrospective sessions, applying continuous improvement practices.
- In Agile projects/environment, support the development of a cross-functional, self-managing project team.
- In Agile projects/environment, communicate daily progress toward iteration, release, and project goals to stakeholders.

Qualifications
- Experience with both Waterfall and Agile Methodologies
- Bachelor's degree in technical, business, or management discipline; or equivalent professional experience
- PMP certification desired
- 8+ years of professional IT experience; 5-7+ years project management experience in technical projects/programs.
- Demonstrated experience running multiple large scale, complex technology projects or programs
- Knowledge of and competency in PMI-based project management processes, including planning tasks and allocating resources, risk management, issues management, time management, and financial management,
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent meeting planning and facilitation skills
- Experience with business support software applications such as MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Visio, and Access) required.
