Senior Systems Architect analyzes features and capability requirements for new or developing products or product lines, transform market requirements into engineering specifications and lead product line architecture or system level design teams. The role is focused on the leading edge of new product conceptualization, product specification and integrated system design. They utilize past experience in complex developments to help guide the development, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams effectively to the new solution.
Specifically, the Senior Systems Architect will be responsible for the following:
- Analyzing functional and market requirements to produce unambiguous, optimized engineering specifications
- Producing system level design documentation
- Peer review design and development documentation
- Lead design and performance reviews for design and requirement compliance
- Manage requirements through the product life cycle
- Assist project managers with development timeline estimates
- Assist internal staff and customers with network design, deployment planning and optimization
- Systems Architect's must be established industry experts in one or more domains such as radio propagation and network design, communications theory, data modelling, transaction processing, information security, home area networking, personal area networking, IP, and enterprise scale software architectures
- Interact with the Home Area Network and Project Management staff to assess and estimate work effort for new technologies
- The ability to understand, interpret, and rationalize solutions to complex problems
- Ability to work in diverse cross functional development teams including resources both foreign and domestic
- Represent the company in a positive and professional manner when working with internal or external customers
- Support and adhere to the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy
Required Skills
- Microsoft Visio
- Microsoft Project
- Familiarity with different development methodologies
- Familiarity with Rally or TFS is a Plus
- Familairty with PS Next is a Plus
- Personal computer knowledge
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Required Experience
- Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science is required. MS preferred
- 7 plus years experience in RF network design, communications system design, data modelling, transaction processing, information security, or as an enterprise software architect
- Design experience and knowledge of systems utilizing Internet protocols
- Electric Utility Automated Meter Reading (AMR) design and architecture experience is preferred
- J2EE, C++ and .NET expertise is desirable
- Multidimensional (diverse) product development experience is a plus
- ZigBee and Smart Energy Profile knowledge preferred
- Internet Protocol (IP) experience is preferred
- HomePlug, 6loWPAN, 802.15.4 or other personal area networks (PAN) or Home Area Networking (HAN) experience preferred
