Job Description
The Platform group in Rackspace Cloud is seeking a Senior Cloud Developer to execute on a new, strategic, product initiative. The opportunity is to come in as one of the founding members of a new team, and take the product off the ground. This is a hands on coding role (80% coding), 20% technical vision/design.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement production grade software at cloud scale
- Partner with QE/Test, Operations and Product management to ensure high quality releases per schedule
- Evaluate technical aspects of competing products
- Propose and build proof of concepts, prototypes
- Provide estimates for development effort

The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics:
- 7+ years of experience in software product development (design, coding, system engineering)
- Demonstrated experience building highly scalable, distributed software systems
- Extensive knowledge of Linux operating system
- Experience building cloud based systems
- Experience with server virtualization and or container technology is highly desirable
- Experience with at least 2 of the following programming languages - Java, Python, PHP, Ruby, C#.
- Work independently without needing lot of input, self-driven.
- Experience with contributing to open source code is a plus
