3M Company is seeking a Software Development Engineer for the Motor Vehicle Systems and Services Business Unit.

Job Summary:

The person hired for the position Software Development Engineer will primarily be responsible for working interdependently with a team of developers to develop and implement business applications supporting initiatives within the Motor Vehicle Systems and Services Division of 3M. This includes working with a team lead to utilize technical specifications to provide enhancements and new development to an existing suite of applications, while adhering to standards and guidelines within 3M MVSS. This role will be part of the Software Development Team.

Major Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Working with a team lead to utilize technical specifications; provide product enhancements; and new product development to an existing suite of applications
- Debugging and analysing code
- Create new code to support business functional requirements and rules
- Communicate effectively within the team to ensure current organization standards and procedures are met
- Working with team members to ensure a high quality end product

The position of Software Development Engineer will be located in Austin, Texas and may include up to 25% travel. Relocation benefits are not authorized for this position.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited university
- Minimum 5 years combined experience coding on Java as a programming language, Scripting languages, and Oracle and/or DB2 Databases
- Minimum 3 years experience in Object Oriented programming and design principles

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Experience developing software applications in a commercial environment
- Experience with large-scale, high availability enterprise applications deployed using Java/J2EE
- Experience with WebSphere Application Server is desired
- Experience in application development meeting requirements under PCI Level 2 compliance is desired
- Commitment to continuing professional development
- Relative certification is preferred, but not required
- Ability to communicate effectively within a team environment
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required
