Our Team
The Core Technology Group (CTG) is the innovation hub within Informatica that is responsible for delivering an extensible, reliable and scalable platform that provides the solid foundation for all other Informatica products. Specifically, our team specializes in delivering products that capture changed data from databases on the z/OS platform, and provide that captured data to the full suite of Informatica products. As part of our team you will:
-Capture change data from DB2 (z/OS)
-Capture change data from IMS
-Capture change data from VSAM
-Capture change data from CICS
-Build infrastructure on z/OS to extract and format captured data and provide that data to other Informatica components and products

Your Opportunity
Change data capture is one of the core technologies that the platform provides to the Informatica product suite, giving consistently integrated source data across all products, which aids cross-sell/upsell opportunities. You will be a key contributor to Informatica's next generation platform and how it handles the volume, velocity and variety of data. You will participate in delivering new Enterprise-level functionality for integrating z/OS change capture data sources with modern corporate software and data architectures, and be responsible at a feature level for delivering, in a timely manner, well tested, scalable and robust components.

You are an experienced software engineer who has the ability to work on the z/OS platform.

Your Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be based in Austin, TX and will be responsible for:
-Facilitating the collaboration and engagement between senior members of the team to ensure sound design and implementation of big functional areas
-Implementing new features in our change data capture technologies
-Working closely with architects and development and QA engineers to discuss and evangelize features
-Collaborating with geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams in an Agile environment
-Participating in internal/cross team meetings, scoping, decision making and technical documentation
-Mentoring junior engineers on technical, architectural, design and related issues
-Proactively identifying architectural weaknesses and recommending appropriate solutions
-Taking architectural ownership of functional areas in the product

Representative accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:
-Leading and driving the delivery and architecture for significantly large functional areas in the product
-Taking ownership for features in the platform that cut across multiple product groups
-Designing, implementing, documenting, analyzing and operationalizing features clearly to ensure that others may readily utilize them
-Interacting with QA and documentation teams to clearly communicate the features and behaviors of the system
-Reviewing functional and test specifications and conducting training sessions for global services and support teams
-Assisting customers, support engineers, and field engineers with troubleshooting issues and problems

Your Qualifications
-7 or more years of relevant professional experience, a portion of which was within a global enterprise software company
-Deep understanding of z/OS operating system and operational environment, including knowledge of common data access methods
-Ability to read and modify z/OS Assembler language
-Demonstrated ability to write quality code in the C programming language
-Working knowledge of relational database systems
-Proven ability to work well with others in a fast paced, iterative product definition and development environment
-Ability to communicate and express thoughts and ideas in a big group
-Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills within an organization
-Able to work independently with little direct supervision and take initiative; willing to mentor and develop others
-Strong analytical problem solving and decision making skills
-Ability to react quickly to changing requirements due to product limitations or driven by enterprise needs
-Experience with C++ or Java programming languages is a plus
-Exposure to non-relational database systems such as IMS, IDMS, or Datacom is a plus
-Exposure to transaction processing systems such as CICS is a plus
-Expertise in database programming and database application development, ideally from a Mainframe environment (Datacom, DB2, IMS, IDMS, VSAM) is a plus
-Experience in multi-threaded programming is a plus
-Working experience with Visual Studio IDE is a plus
-BS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline preferred; advanced degree is a plus
