What You Will Do:

Application Programmer - Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Maryland Medical System

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland Medical System is looking for a dynamic and motivated software engineer to become a member of our information technology and information systems team.

This team develops and provides on-going support for the department's clinical, business and mission related functions. The Department of Radiation Oncology is an integral component of the National Cancer Institute designated, University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center. It provides a full range of state-of-the-art cancer treatment services at the University of Maryland Medical Center and its four community practice centers. All practice sites are connected via a telemedicine network facilitating interactions between faculty and staff. In addition, the department maintains cutting-edge research and education programs. This position offers the opportunity to interact with nationally recognized faculty, including physicians and scientists in our department.

Our clinical facilities are all located within 25 miles of downtown Baltimore, close to the Inner Harbor waterfront, professional sports stadiums a myriad of museums, musical and dramatic arts venues, wonderful walking, hiking and biking trails, and BWI airport. In addition, the heart of Washington DC with all its cultural, historic and entertainment options are a car ride or short train ride away. Occasional commute between clinical practice sites may be required within the local metro area.

What You Need to Be Successful:

The successful candidate must have Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. The successful candidate must possess strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates' knowledge of current programming paradigms should include:

J2EE 1.5 or above and EJB/Servelts/JDBC/SOAP (at least 2 years)

JBoss or Glassfish (at least 2 years)

PHP (at least 2 years)

Open-source development tools: Netbeans, and/or Eclipse

HTML5/CSS/Javascript/AJAX (at least 3 years)

Open-source SQL database: PostgresSQL or MySQL or Oracle (at least 2 years)

XML/XLST (at least 2 years)

Experience in Development Software Development Life Cycle (at least 2 years)

Linux/Unix (at least 3 years)

Additional preferred skills include:

C/C++/C#

Analysis of object-oriented analysis and design pattern

Visual Studio Development Environment

GNU Development Environment

Mac OS X Server
