Job Description: Data Analyst Statistician
CGI Federal is looking for a Data Analyst Statistician to support one of our Health IT projects in Baltimore/Towson, MD. The successful candidate will apply data mining, statistical analysis, pattern recognition, and predictive modeling against prescription drug usage data. Responsibilities include:
- Develop statistically based models to identify questionable data and recommend areas for data investigation
- Research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and healthcare costs data. Design the analysis approach, write complex SQL, and interpret complex data models that support a large health care program, and claims processing
- Participate in the investigation of new data sources to ensure the quality and reliability of the data
- Extract, transform and summarize drug healthcare data using SQL, SAS and/or other statistical/analytical tools
- Analyzes and organizes technical data and reports into summaries for management and customer review.
- Help to grow a statistical and analytical mindset within team
- Exercise positive interpersonal communication skills and works independently or with a small team on all phases of software development lifecycle.
Education or Equivalent Training
- Bachelor's degree in statistics, actuarial science, applied mathematics, or similar major.
Required Experience:
- 5-8 years of directly related computer systems analysis, data analysis and/or statistical analysis experience using SAS.
- Knowledge of data mining, statistics, analytic methods and tools, techniques and algorithms
- Understanding of data warehousing and relational databases
- Strong skills in SQL, SAS, MS Excel and MS Access
- Solid analytical skills.
Additional or unique requirements for position:
- Experience with Medicare, especially the Part D program a plus
- Teradata platform experience preferred
