Expedia's Best Fare Search team develops Expedia's proprietary flight search engine which is used by millions of users on a daily basis. We are looking for an exceptional Software Engineer in Test to help the team continue to improve one of Expedia's key products and further grow our competitive advantage within the industry. As a team member, your primary responsibility will be to build systems and infrastructure to help test and analyze our search engine's functional and competitive performance in a dynamic environment where results can change minute-to-minute. Further, you will have the opportunity to understand and shape the marketplace landscape we are looking to create, solve some wickedly hard problems, and influence design decisions which can have a large impact across the company. Responsibilities:
- Design and implement automated tools and systems that use innovative testing strategies to create user scenarios, execute tests rapidly, and report on results to various stakeholders.
- Drive testing via a 100% automated test approach to exercise the world's most complex flight search engine.
- Ability to interpret, analyze and work with large amounts of data to identify issues and patterns so that the product can be continuously improved.
- Create testing strategy, plan for test execution and exhaustive test cases.
- Troubleshoot issues found during testing or on live-site and deliver clear bug reports.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, program and product management, architects and developers to ensure that the solution meets our requirements.
- Bring down the cost and time of delivery through ongoing improvements to our Continuous Delivery technologies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4+ years of software engineering experience with a strong emphasis on automation and exploratory testing
- Incredible test design skills and the ability to identify what needs testing and how to test it
- Excellent coding skills in C#, C++ or Java and proficient with XML and SQL
- Working knowledge of data mining and machine learning concepts is a huge plus
- Demonstrable expertise in programming concepts & methodologies. Proven knowledge of various testing techniques.
- Excellent problem solving skills, passion for technology, and strong communication skills
- Must be able to function in a team environment and have the ability to adapt to a changing landscape
- Must be able to drive projects to completion and work with minimal supervision
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
