Database Administrator - SQL Server-INF000424
Administer and maintain the security and integrity of the Microsoft SQL Server databases. Implement data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance on Microsoft SQL Server databases. Resolve Microsoft SQL Server database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. Lead the efforts of installing and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server database management software.
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Seasoned MS SQL Server DBA to provide production support for MS SQL Server in SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 and 2012 environments running on Windows Server 2000, 2003 and 2008 platforms. Providing support for transactional databases as well as reporting databases for both OLTP and BI/Data Warehouse environments.
- Helping define back-up & recovery strategy. Creating and monitoring backup processes and providing data recovery needs as required.
- Helping define data archiving strategy
- Performing installation, configuration, and memory management on new instances of MS SQL Server as well as on existing instances.
- Researching and troubleshooting MS SQL Server performance issues as well as general processing concerns. Developing and implementing database performance monitoring process and analyzing monitoring data for performance optimization opportunities
- Being part of the database operation on-call rotation and provide off hours support as required
- Working with the Information/Data Architect and Database Designer/Modeler to help implement the physical data model for the development and/or production environments for Data Warehouse Systems as well as OLTP Systems on Microsoft SQL Server environment
- Providing input, as needed, to the development of business cases when enterprise-wide database solutions are proposed
- Planning for and execute any required MS SQL Server database patching, upgrades and migration.
- Implementing database security policy for PCI, PII and CPNI requirements
- Communicate database requirements to the development team for the design and implementation of database-related code
- Performing model walk-through to educate the technical and business communities, as needed
- Develop and implement standards for data object naming and database design for MS SQL Server databases
- Participate in project estimating activities
- Produce technical documentation related to the MS SQL Server databases under management according to technology standards

- College degree in related technical/business areas or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of experience with MS SQL Server in a large scale, high transaction volume environment
- Experience working in a system environment requiring 24x7 uptime
- Experience performing MS SQL Server backups, data recovery, replication and log shipping
- Experience/advanced knowledge of MS SQL Server logical and physical database modeling concepts and techniques
- Microsoft SQL Server Administration including managing database objects
- Expert knowledge on supporting MS SQL Server 2005 and 2008
- Knowledge of MS SQL Server database performance factors, monitoring tools and tuning procedures
- Knowledge of productivity factors and ability to understand impact of issues on overall database performance
- Knowledge of data warehouse schemas and structures such as dimensional modeling
- Knowledge of fault detection and resolution processes
- Knowledge of maintenance tools and procedures
- MS SQL Server Database Security
- Familiar with ETL development
- 2 to 3 years of work experience for supporting Oracle database on Oracle 10g/11g on Unix/Linux platform will be a big plus
