This firmware/software developer position focuses on the creation of algorithms and the development of firmware for Embedded systems in LED drivers, controls and sensors. Bring your expertise to add novel features to lighting systems including digital power control, adaptive automation and closed loop control. You will work with a high level of creativity and independence to solve unique and complex technical problems. Your involvement will be from concept to working prototypes and systems. Your contributions, combined with your expertise in systems engineering and software development, will help to bring new ideas and concepts to life.

We seek an exceptionally skilled person in firmware/software development with top-notch critical thinking skills on a systems level, who is willing to work in a team setting, and is able to take on leadership roles as needed.

Your work will include:

Development and implementation of algorithms

Coding Microcontroller & DSP firmware in C/C++

Coding PC software like device interfaces, drivers, controllers and user interfaces in .NET

Engineering of System Architecture, Component Requirements Specification

Perform development activities with a high degree of independence and creativity in a research environment.

Following quality standards, eg following programming guidelines, usage of source code version control system, professional documentation of your work

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

University degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Physics and 5+ years or PhD.

Ability to work locally at the OSRAM Lighting Research Center in Beverly, MA

Experience in coding Microcontroller based systems in C/C++

Hands-on experience in designing, prototyping, analysing and debugging Microcontroller and DSP-based digital and analog circuits and systems

Proficient in Object Oriented programming languages like C# or Visual Basic.NET

Excellent command of oral and written English

Commitment to working independently and in a team environment

The ideal candidate has:

Knowledge of lighting control systems

Solid understanding of control theory

Expert-level knowledge in Digital Signal Processing technologies

Experience in software development for computer vision

Working experience in professional development tools and methods like UML diagrams, use cases, requirements engineering

Theoretical background in communications engineering

Familiarity with wired communication protocols like DALI, DMX, TCP/IP, I²C

Wireless network communication experience (eg ZigBee, 6LoWPAN, Wi-Fi, etc.)

Experience in specifying, support of development and debugging of ASICs

Hands-on experience in designing power electronic circuits and systems

Experience with SQL databases
