Software Development Manager - Product Development, .NET, SDLC Software Development Manager Named one of the top companies in South Florida by the South Florida, we are a Software as a Services (SaaS) company that provides solutions to help independent insurance agencies grow revenues, enhance productivity and operate more efficiently. Due to growth, we need a Software Development Manager with strong Product Development and .NET experience to join our team!
What you need for this position:
- Minimum of 10 years experience developing software for commercial applications
- Proven record of leading successful product development programs
- Intimate knowledge of and experience in managing the entire SDLC
- Must develop in Web technologies, including the .NET framework, MVC, C#, JavaScript, jQueryHTML5/CSS3, etc.
- Familiarity with REST and Service Oriented Architecture principles
- Experience in the agile development environment (ie, Scrum)
- Detail oriented †perfectionist†driven to fully realize the stated vision for new products
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, software engineering, computer science, or related
- Masters degree a plus
- Experience leading SaaS/Web application development teams a plus
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Azure cloud platform
- Insurance industry domain knowledge/experience a plus
What you'll be doing:
- Lead a team of 20 developers and testers, including 2 direct reports
- Ensure that development teams have complete technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively by providing estimates as well as realistic timelines in order to meet deadlines
- Lead code and technical design document reviews with the software development team
- Track and report the status of projects in development, acting as a gateway through which work should be assigned to appropriate teams
- Spend approximately 25% of your time coding
- Keep new product development and sustaining development programs on track
- Evolve the existing software system applications and architecture in various areas as needed
- Analyze requests for new features, enhancements, and bugs for impact, timing and deployment requirements
- Ensure we hire and retain the best software developers and testers
- Evolve the existing software system applications and architecture in various areas as needed
- Visit/interface with customers to help identify areas for product improvement
- Be a strong contributor to strategic product planning
- Report to Chief Operating Officer weekly on status of all development programs
- Participate in periodic meetings with senior management (CEO, COO, etc.)
