A Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer is essentially a software engineer focused on designing, populating and supporting the data warehouse and data marts leveraging ETL tools, data access tools, monitoring tools and modeling tools.

As an Intern Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer you will be responsible for helping to provide escalated support, working on enhancements, fixing defects and working on projects related to Micron's Data Warehouse environment. To fulfill this role you will need to collaborate with analysts, project managers, DBAs, and others across Micron. You will be required to: develop and support extract, transformation and load (ETL) processes using a variety of tools and methods, performance tune ETL (including SQL), understand data models, business rules, data extraction tools and methods for source systems, work closely with BI analyst and business analysts to define technical requirements and to understand the business and/or manufacturing processes surrounding data marts, ensure data quality through good design, development procedures and adequate testing, adhere to standards and recommendations and facilitate design and code walkthroughs.

Responsibilities:

- Developing ETL solutions as identified by the Business and IS BI Analyst
- Working with the Business to resolve project and operational Issues and mitigate risks as applicable
- Participate in Unit testing and integration testing activities
- Document and train IBM and Site IS in support of the data warehouse environment
- Work with Site IS to package and deploy releases to each site
- Continue to improve management and maintenance of each data warehouse

Qualifications:

Successful Candidates for this position will have:

- Coursework or experience in two or more of the following: SQL development and database design, Perl, C#, SSIS, other ETL platforms
- Strong Problem Solving Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication, as well as teamwork and consensus building skills.

Education:

Students seeking Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or equivalent related experience.

This internship will primarily span the summer months in 2014.
