Responsibilities
The Sr. Software Product Manager is active in all phases of software development, implementation, and production- from gathering customer input and requirements through user-interface design and specification writing, to quality-assurance acceptance testing of the software. The Sr. Software Product Manager works closely with the development teams, and is able to effectively communicate and work with both technical and business partners. This person will partner with software developers and architects to scope, prioritize, implement, and deliver new product releases and will also serve as a spokesperson for the product with key stakeholders, including senior level technical staff. This person works on significant and unique issues or problems that require an in-depth knowledge of integration technologies and complex systems design and analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies, prioritizes, and tracks stakeholder requirements and defines the scope for releases
- Represents the customer with the development team and the development team with the customer
- Work with other members of the product team, including designers, engineers, and systems architects to refine requirements to an appropriate level of detail for development and systems implementation. Activities to achieve this can include usability studies, data review, interviews and prototypes.
- Drive discussions between dependent development teams to reach implementation decisions that support BU product and customer needs
- Collaborates with User Interaction/Interface/Experience Team on creation, review, and approval of Web App UI specifications, prototypes, and designs
- Collaborates with senior technical staff to understand Pearson's strategies and directions, and helps map the product roadmap with those strategies
- Communicate roadmap and release plans to stakeholders
- Works with diverse partners to build consensus
- Confer with development teams on resource/cost estimating. Track spending and ensure project costs fall within approved budgets.
- Understands and stays abreast of technology trends, requirements, and regulations in the Higher Education markets
- Manage other initiatives as assigned by executive management

Qualifications
Qualifications
- BA/BS or equivalent
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in software product and/or project management
Skills/knowledge/abilities
- In-depth familiarity with software design, implementation, release and support is required, with a strong understanding of sound Web, and increasingly Mobile, design principals/techniques
- Previous experience in the education or publishing industry working with editorial preferred; content management and video (web and mobile) experience a plus
- Experience in large-scale integration projects a plus
- Excellent written, verbal and visual communications skills
- Ability to build consensus among peers, across functional teams, and in reporting chain
- Adept dealing with highly complex issues relating to scalability, data management and system integrations
- Familiarity with Agile principles and practices
- A strong desire to improve education using new technology and enabling tools
-This person must be able to sit or stand at a personal computer for a reasonable length of time typing and reading.
-Ability to handle a high volume of work in a short period of time, handle multiple priorities simultaneously and operate in a demanding work environment is important
