System Design Engineer

Businesstaff has been retained by a client in the Greater Denver Area in search of a Principal System Design Engineer. The Principal System Design Engineer will be one of the technical experts and architects in the System Design group which is responsible for the system architecture, system requirements and design of all Company products.   

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Providing technical leadership in the wireless communication protocol system engineering and product definition.
• Responsible for new product concept creation based on customer and market needs and by working with the marketing and sales teams.
• Responsible for new product definition and system level design and creation of system architectures and system requirements documents in the wireless communication protocol areas.
• Performing system engineering functions such as analysis, design, modelling and simulation of various radio access network types.
• Design and development of new product and new solution prototypes.
• Responsible for developing new air-link algorithms through simulation and prototyping.
• Responsible for RF system architecture, topology, link budget and system planning and provide white papers to assist field deployments.
• Work closely with HW and FW team engineers during the development phase to assist resolving development issues related to system level design.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 15+ year experience in wireless, telecom system engineering, design and architectures and a quick adopter of new technologies.
• Extensive experience of wireless system design and creation of system architecture and system requirement documents.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to design common radio platforms and solutions to meet a broad range of applications and use cases.
• Extensive working knowledge of wireless communication protocol architecture, design and development.
• Previous HW/FW development experience preferred and good experience and ability to quickly develop prototypes using off the shelf HW, SW and tools.
• Very strong communication skills both verbal and in written form as well as team collaboration skills as this position requires extensive interaction with internal teams as well as external customers and partners.
• BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
