Job Descriptions: Big Data Architect & Software Engineer 

Thasos combines and analyzes non-financial big data sources in order to measure Real Time company fundamentals and macro-economic developments.

Our company is a forward-thinking team based at MIT that includes Greg Skibiski, Founder of Sense Networks and Alex Sandy Pentland, Head of Human Dynamics Research at MIT. 

Minimum of a relevant Masters and 3-5 years work experience is required to apply. PhD encouraged.

Big Data Architect

• Expertise with Hadoop, distributed file systems and large-scale datasets
• 2+ years experience in production data mining & processing systems
• Strong Linux skills
• Strong skills with Python, Java, AWS (or other Cloud-based services), and either Matlab or R
• Expertise in data mining and machine learning (finance/economics a plus)

Software Engineer (for financial applications)

• 3+ years experience with the following tools: Python and Java, and either Matlab or R 
• Expertise in programming numerical analysis software tools
• Experience in visualization of data
• General knowledge of equity markets
• Financial industry experience highly preferred
