About the Job

The Business Development Director will have the responsibility for developing and supporting the partnerships for division's Licensed and SaaS Operator Content Delivery Networks (OCDN) solutions. In this role the incumbent will build and manage partnerships with channel partners, system integrators and technology partners for video distribution solutions.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Market Development, Support and Operations for CPD, the Business Development Director will work closely with the CPD leadership team, Carrier Sales team, Network Strategy team and Carrier Products Support team. In the process of identifying and driving forward OCDN partnerships, the incumbent will interface with internal legal, technical, product management and sales teams to identify the right commercial and technical terms of partner relationships.

About the Team

Carrier Products Division is a dynamic new business group within Akamai that defines, develops, and sells Akamai's carrier products to fixed and mobile network operators. The group is responsible for Akamai's initiatives for Licensed and SaaS Operator Content Delivery Networks (OCDN) solutions, and leverages the strength of Akamai's global Intelligent Platform and licensed software solutions for the use by the network service providers (Telcos, ISPs, MSOs). The division works with several other groups in Akamai as well as engaging with many external customers and partners, and consists of business development, engineering, product management and support personnel.

Responsibilities:
- Lead many of the Carrier Products Division's partnership globally.
- Identify partnership opportunities, which leverage Akamai's existing competitive advantage, assets and relationships as well as capitalize on emerging industry trends.
- Define partnership strategies, business models and legal frameworks to work with different types of partners, including channel partners, system integrators and technology partners for video delivery solutions.
- Drive contractual negotiations with partners from beginning to end, and manage implementation of partnership agreements once contracts are in place.
- Manage forecasting and sales process with channel partners.
- Manage statement of work and execution of projects by system integration partners.
- Manage joint technical projects, joint marketing and sales opportunities with ecosystem partners.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree or MBA preferred
- Minimum of 15 years of business experience in the technology industry
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Technical Business Development
- Minimum of 5 years of experience selling to network service providers (telcos, MSOs, ISPs)

- Strong Technical Background in networking
- Internet technology (TCP/IP and HTTP) knowledge
- Wireline and wireless equipment and network architecture protocols
- Excellent Interpersonal Skills
- Strong Presentation Skills with Customer, Partners, Executive Management and Colleagues
- Strong reputation as a thought leader, awareness of technology trends and external influencers
- Ability to set clear and deliverable goals
