The Customer Enablement Engineering group is growing in Cambridge. Akamai is looking for a strong engineer to revolutionize the customer experience for Akamai's product reporting.

About the Team

Our software underpins Akamai's exceptional level of customer service across its entire portfolio of solutions. Building our software is a challenging problem on multiple fronts: a) the size and global spread of Akamai's customer base, b) the diversity and scale of Akamai's solutions, and c) 3000+ employees dispersed in locations around the globe. The team has a direct impact on Akamai's day-to-day business efficiency and the quality of service received by its customers. The team's work encompasses the full engineering cycle: derive requirements, define features, design and develop the implementation, verify for correctness, analyze usage patterns, scale and extend systems as Akamai grows its business.

Responsibilities:

- Design and develop web based applications which will be utilized by Akamai's customers.
- Enhance and extend the reporting capabilities of our customer portal through the use of dashboards and other tools.
- Make recommendations on the adoption and use of other UI-based frameworks
- Provide Tier 3 support for group's systems, possibly including infrequent off-hours calls.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Overall Experience: Minimum 5 years or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of development in Java
- Minimum 3 years experience with rich web application development (HTML/DHTML, JavaScript, CSS).
- Minimum 1 year experience in using a Javascript-based framework like JQuery

Desired Qualifications
- HTML 5 experience
- Experience with Web Services (eg REST, SOAP)
- Familiarity with Tomcat and Apache configuration.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, small-team environment.
- Experience with cross-platform, multi-browser web page development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of Internet protocols.
