About the Job

We're looking for a self-starting software engineer who is comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment to help develop new tools and maintain existing tools. In the Development Tools team you will be responsible for improving the tools and processes around Akamai's software life cycle. You will work directly with developers, SQA engineers, managers and release engineers to make following good software practices easier, more efficient, and more fun.

About the Team

Akamai's Development Tools team is charged with making it easier to develop software at Akamai. We are a highly motivated and cooperative team, relying on the abilities of all our members to develop innovative and elegant ways to enhance the productivity of Akamai's Engineering staff.

Responsibilities:
- Work with a small team and with internal customers to refine Akamai's software development processes using both custom and third party software.
- Maintain and provide support for existing tools and infrastructure.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
- 5-7 years or equivalent experience
- Bachelor's degree in either Computer Science or a technical discipline
- Web Development Experience
- A strong development background in Ruby on Rails
- Experience with databases and data model management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work in a dynamic small team environment
- A strong work ethic and positive attitude

Desired Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of the software lifecycle process and multiple software development methodologies
- Experience with Perl
- Significant knowledge of SQL
- Knowledge of Perforce and Bugzilla
