We are seeking a talented and experienced senior-level designer and art director for our client, a leading strategy and communication firm, headquartered in Cambridge, MA, with offices in New Jersey, Washington, DC., and San Francisco. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Cambridge, MA beginning as soon as the right candidate is selected.
Knowledge of emerging interactive tools and design techniques desired
-Participate in project planning (budget/schedules) and complete all assigned project phases on time and on budget
-Search for stock imagery and assist in the creation of original photography and illustration
-Conceptualize and execute unique designs while working within well established branding guidelines.
-Pre-flight and QA all printer files prior to going to publications and printers
-Organize and manage photo library and creative server
-Photo retouching, when necessary
-Work on day-to-day production schedule from simple marketing requests to high-level conceptual projects and deadlines
-Create logos and font treatments
-Develop brand standard manuals
-Illustration and information graphics
Attributes: To perform the job successfully,The Senior Designer/Art Director works with account teams, developers, and other creative services staff to create branded communication solutions for clients and internal initiatives. The position will assist the creative team in all aspects of creative projects: concept development, brand identity development, visual design language, presentation development, and production including but not limited to logos, advertising, catalogs, brochures, websites, email blasts, collateral, signage, tradeshow graphics and some multimedia storyboarding.
The applicant must be able to work as part of a close-knit, cross-functional project team with both technical and non-technical team members, while also being able to be proactive and function independently. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are necessary. S/he must possess extreme attention to detail and a high level of accountability and responsibility.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
-Supports creative deliverables on all accounts
-Must be able to work in many different designs styles (corporate, retail, animated, etc.)
-Secures approval of layouts and final art from the SVP Creative Services, VP/Creative Director and account staff
-Maintains organization over personal graphic resources, visual data, samples, graphic standards, manuals, etc.
-Maintains consistently high graphic standards and is aware of new techniques and trends in design
Requirements
Attributes: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate all of the following attributes:
-Extreme conceptual and visual problem solving skills
-Design-related experience in the digital space desired a must
-Strong written and oral communication skills, comfortable participating in client meetings, presenting creative concepts
-Must be able to manage multiple tasks from inception, concept, to completion
-Creative thinker with excellent problem-solving skills. Solid grasp of fundamental concepts of print and web publishing and graphic design principles.
Required Skills:
and Experience:
-Minimum 8 years print and digital design experience required; client services or agency experience preferred
-Experience working with Marketing and Information Technology teams a plus
-Experienced understanding of creative development processes for digital and print communications
-Full understanding of printing technologies and print production
Education (degrees, technical training, etc.):
-BS in graphic design for print and digital preferred or Graphic Design related discipline, BFA preferred
-Relevant course work in digital/interactive design and print design a significant plus
Technical Expertise (systems, sciences, technologies, etc.):
-Highly skilled in the Adobe suite of products version 5.0 or higher (Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign)
-Knowledge of print production
-Digital design expertise and experience (websites, mobile, parallax)
-Ability to work on both Macintosh and PC computers
-Ability to support new business efforts (knowledge of PowerPoint a must, Prezi and KeyNote a plus)
