About the Job

The Networks organization is looking for a creative, self-motivated, problem-solver to help develop and drive programs to maintain and scale Akamai's distributed network. The candidate will report directly to the Vice President of Networks and work with his staff to document and identify gaps in existing processes, develop and implement projects to address those gaps, and ensure that existing departmental programs run smoothly by implementing appropriate performance metrics. The perfect candidate has a passion for operational efficiency and enjoys positively affecting the way that people do their jobs. Excellent communication and relationship skills are a must. The candidate will need to develop an understanding of how people accomplish their tasks, and that is best accomplished by personally connecting with their colleagues.

About the Team

The Networks team is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Akamai's network. To that end, we are responsible for managing and maintaining business relationships with network and datacenter operators around the world. The team works closely with both new and existing operators to deploy, maintain, and streamline our physical presence globally. The Senior Network Process Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and optimizing processes and programs and driving special projects across the team.

Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the management team and cross-departmentally to analyze, optimize, design, develop, and implement key operational processes and programs.
- Identifying and reporting metrics on process adherence with assistance from the Network Tools team.
- Developing documentation of existing processes, and creating and maintaining a central repository for this documentation.
- Working closely with Systems personnel to identify and define requirements for automation and efficiency-improving tools.
- Coordinating other inter and cross-departmental projects.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business related discipline or five years of technical experience
- Minimum 4+ years of experience managing cross-functional projects in a technical field

Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with Internet Networking and Datacenter Management.
- Business Process Improvement experience
- Flexible and well-honed motivational and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Passion for learning about new technologies
- Familiarity with Real Time operational environments, with a good understanding of operational efficiency
- Ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks, and to prioritize tasks to maximize productivity
- Familiarity with Internet technologies or protocols such as DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, etc.
- Familiarity with various computer operating systems (such as: Windows, Mac OR UNIX)
- Working knowledge of HTML, Wikis, and MS Excel
