Akamai's System Communications team is looking for a talented Dev Q/A engineer to join our team. This engineer will be responsible for working with the development team to perform tight cycle feature testing during early stages of software development. You will be an integral part of our aggressive growth strategy for creating highly inventive technology solutions for our customers, driving more and more traffic on the Internet. About the Team

System Communications is a team of engineers who develop distributed systems that support Akamai's global network. In general, these systems operate behind the scenes to provide the fault-tolerant and highly scalable core of Akamai's configuration and health monitoring systems.

Responsibilities:

- Support and maintain testnet infrastructure
- Release Administration
- Develop skills to become an expert user of internal systems
- Execute automated regressions tests
- Perform targeted testing of cutting-edge features during development
- Design and develop new tests that integration with our test infrastructure
- Confirm that software features meet their stated goals

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience.
- Minimum of 3 years Linux/Unix administration experience.

Desired Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to operate in an ever-changing and ad-hoc environment
- Competence and self-motivation in testing system functionality
- Ability to analyze problems and identify causes
- Ability to review bug descriptions, functional requirements, design documents and code
- Ability working closely with developers to design test criteria and develop test plans
- Experience with Software Release process
- Experience supporting testing activities for multiple applications/releases
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills
- Experience with networking protocols, including TCP, HTTP, SSL
- Familiarity with SQL, Perl, Python, Shell and/or Java
- Experience in one of the following roles: QA Engineer, Software Release Lead, System Administrator, Software Analyst
