About the Job

The Sr. Product Engineer works directly with clients to deliver Akamai's solutions. (This role is similar to a Sr. Solutions Architect within Professional Services). You will be involved with projects from design through implementation, testing and customer sign-off. You will work with a cross-functional team to design and implement new mobile offerings for Akamai's customers and mobile network partners. You will plan, implement, test, and deploy Akamai platform configurations and develop and execute test cases and scripts for customer solutions.

Within the Mobile Networks group we specifically create products that address mobile network operator and content provider needs regarding mobile delivery. Our objective is to improve the mobile end user experience through a dialog between network owners, content providers and new innovative technology.

About the Team

The Mobile Network Products is a group of industry-leading professionals dedicated to owning and driving mobile network innovation at Akamai. Our products will be used by the world's top mobile network operators as well as media companies, online retailers and financial institutions.

Responsibilities:
- Work as a member of a cross-functional project team contributing to the technology-based solutions and consult on concept feasibility.
- Own the technical components of a customer integration project including but not limited to configuration, debugging, documentation, testing, and go live support.
- Integrate Akamai's Solutions including Dynamic Site Accelerator, Web Application Accelerator, Web Application Firewall, Global Traffic Manager, EdgeComputing for Java, Electronic Software Downloads, Download Manager and more.
- Architect and implement custom metadata solutions based on customer requirements
- Partner with Business Support, Sales, Engineering, Product Development and Customer Care to resolve issues that arise during customer trials, integrations, or post implementation support.
- Accurately scope implementation timelines for integrations.
- Identify technical risks and provide mitigation strategies.
- Review configurations with other team members to ensure quality and accuracy to requirements.
- Must be willing to travel up to 20%.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of related professional work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years IT solution delivery experience, preferably within a consulting organization.
- Minimum of 2 years experience implementing solutions for customers including detailed knowledge of advanced metadata capabilities

Desired Qualifications
- Experience implementing Akamai solutions for customers including detailed knowledge of Akamai's advanced metadata capabilities
- Experience with UNIX and one or more web development languages, methodologies, and/or architectures - HTTP, DNS, Perl, PHP, Shell Scripting, J2EE, .NET, C#, JSP, ASP, Tomcat, Apache.
- Experience with TCP/IP network debugging with tcpdump or similar.
- Experience delivering streaming technologies (Windows Media, Macromedia Flash, Real/Helix, Apple QuickTime) in the enterprise or B2C, including encoding, server technologies, client and server playlists/metafiles, custom media player creation, DRM a plus.
- Experience with data processing, Real Time Reporting and Analytics a plus.
- Experience with mobile network operators and/or mobile OS or application development
- Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to work externally with network partners, customers, and with Akamai's business and development groups.
- Must be action-oriented, capable of solving complex technical problems independently and in a fast-paced team environment.
