About the Job

Akamai is looking for software engineers to spearhead its effort to analyze the vast amount of data that flows through Akamai's network. The analysis will focus on fraud detection, threat and attack analysis, reputation identification, pattern matching, and other related fields. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in analysing and interpreting huge amounts of data as Akamai's sees almost 30% of all Internet traffic. We are looking for strong, innovative candidates that can assume this challenge and help Akamai succeed in this area.

About the Team

The team is focused on developing new, innovative products that leverage Akamai's unique visibility into Internet traffic and its highly distributed cloud platform. You will be working on developing new and groundbreaking mobile and Big Data products with global impact.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct data research aimed at fraud detection and user reputation
- Develop a research tool to parse, visualize, and enrich raw data
- Design and develop core components of a data analysis solution

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
- Prior experience as a researcher or Engineer in one of more of the following industries: security/fraud, data mining or reputation analysis
- 2+ years experience building tools to manipulate and analyze large data sets
- 3+ years experience as an engineer in the software engineering industry

Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science or other technical domain
- Highly motivated, independent, innovative, and creative
- Able to carry out exploratory tasks without formal requirements
- Excellent team player
- Experience in Statistics, Statistical Modeling, and/or Machine Learning
- Familiarity with online fraud
- Experience with Hadoop
