About the Job

A Technical Project Manager (TPM) at Akamai requires a strong technical background, excellent client and project management skills, proven ability to do hands on technical work when needed, and ability to lead technical projects and technical teams. Successful candidates must be action oriented, capable of independently solving complex technical problems, and able to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and business audiences. The Channel Services TPM will focus on managing large events and implementation projects on behalf of partners as well as developing and delivering training and tools to enable partners to manage these projects in the future.

About the Team

The Technical Project Manager will focus on Channel Partners as a member of the Americas Channel Services team. The Channels Services team is an experienced group of technologists that have experience in driving success through strategic partners and Value Added Resellers across North America. They are equally adept at representing Akamai's offerings as they are in speaking to the overall value a partner delivers with Akamai's products Embedded within their own products and services. The Channels Services team is focused on enabling our partner to be successful in selling Akamai by delivering trainings, conducting regular knowledge sharing workshops, and working to systematically eliminate roadblocks partners face in working an opportunity through Akamai.

Responsibilities:
- Perform excellent project management via the proposition of technically feasible solutions, accurate expectation setting across all project areas and components, establishing and reporting against success criteria and acting as the single point of contact for the implementation - whether Beta, Trial, Proof of Concept or full implementation - or consultancy engagement throughout the life of the project.
- Deliver detailed and concise Statements of Work, effort estimates and project plans for end-customer implementations, providing recommendations where the situations arise.
- Ensure accuracy and punctuality in documentation, accounting, time and project reporting as well as commitment to Akamai's regulatory and compliance policies.
- Provide reviews of planned or active implementations for the purpose of formal documented reviews, planned changes or peer support.
- Manage Akamai's Professional Services revenue through to recognition by consistently reviewing the project's key milestones - product & timelines - along with contractual and invoicing commitments
- Collaborate across Akamai's Services, Support, Sales, Engineering & Product Development organizations to resolve issues that arise during the End-customer's implementation and prior to hand-over to Customer Care.
- Proactively identify new solution and product feature opportunities during pre-sales or implementation providing detailed recommendations to the pre-sales team.
- Be an active participant in internal projects that help scale the group, discover & implement best practices, improve our methodologies and quality of implementations.
- Maintain an active course of self-development in Akamai & Industry technical developments, Industry trends and futures.
- Up to 20% travel required to support presales, project, and partner enablement activities when necessary.
- Drive excellent partner satisfaction by understanding and over-delivering against partner and end-customer expectations.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information System or relevant technical field experience.
- Minimum 5 years of overall experience in IT industry or 4 years of experience plus a Master's Degree.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in technical project/program management, enterprise account level management, and/or other similar customer facing role consulting on, delivering technical products or services.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Internet technologies, standards and protocols, including DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, Web architecture and design.

Desired Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical and business related subjects to all audiences.
- Implementation experience with web delivery technologies
- Experience with Partner Enablement such as developing and delivering training and guides as well as planning out presales, post-sales, and support process alignment.
- Experience with hosting or developing Internet delivered applications, managed security services, enterprise and data center networks, caching proxies, and load balancing.
- Experience in one or more web development languages, methodologies, and/or architectures - J2EE, HTTP, DNS, .NET, C#, JSP, ASP, Tomcat, Apache.
- Experience delivering Internet technologies within B2B or B2C - shopping cart, user personalization, and dynamic database architectures.
