The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Computer Operator for our Computer Operations Department. Below, please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
Position Summary
The Computer Operator plays a key role within the TWC Enterprise Operations Center (EOC), in Charlotte, NC. This individual participates in the support of the Data Processing environments of TWC by observing data processing flows and monitoring key applications for processing deviations or anomalies in their process deliverables. This person also must hold or quickly establish the ability to interface professionally with the internal IT customers of the EOC and relate their reported issues through automated ticketing tools and methods to the appropriate support entities.
Essential Job Functions:
The Computer Operator demonstrates the ability to effectively and efficiently follow all established process and procedures of both the TWC Computer Operations and Support Desk Environments under the collaborative efforts with their immediate team mates as well as under the guidance of the supervisory and management staff of the EOC.
This person must work towards earning the trust and confidence of management to independently follow these processes and procedures as a key goal to succeeding in this position.
This individual must build an understanding of the purpose, significance, and nuances of the applications and services hosted in the TWC Data Centers and supported by the EOC.
Must be able to accept guidance and share feedback relating to their knowledge and performance willingly.
Provides input to Operations and Support Desk policies and ensures that all documentation requirements of shift events are met. The qualified individual will be expected to work overtime as part of covering open slots on various shifts due to illness, vacation or personal time as well as some holidays.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to work a variety of shifs. A standard shift would be assigned but the ability to be flexabile is necessary. Must be flexable with the ability to work 'off shifts' in order to cover for operations staff during vacation, sick or personal time,or to attend training opportunities and or mandatory off shift meetings.
- Experience working in a large corporate support center or customer care center preferred.
- Ability to absorb and retain information quickly.
- Ability to present support information, processes and procedures and instruction in user-friendly language.
- Display self motivation and self direction in unsupervised situations.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
- Exceptional customer service orientation.
- Experience working in a multi functional, team-oriented, collaborative environment
Display proficiency in all current command level interfaces with hosted Operating Systems for AS/400 and in an Open Systems comprised of Windows and UNIX Operating Systems. May be responsible for communicating verbally and in written form, the status of systems and events during their shift in a turnover scenario and or in May be responsible for providing shift statistics to include success/failure ratios and issue description and resolution. Fulfill other duties as assigned by Management. Works in direct collaboration with all Operations and Support Desk personnel ensuring that efficient and effective communications are maintained across all shifts and with all IT entities. Provides input to improve Computer Operational effectiveness and efficiency. Along with other shift operators, acts as Tier I Support Desk covering telephone and e-mail duties. In conjunction with team members maintains cognizance over the duration of their assigned shift and can relate all activities accordingly at need for review. Assists in maintaining process and procedural documents in support of the Computer Operations Environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Less than 3 years experience in an open systems environment utilizing an enterprise scheduling package such as Tidal, or BMC Patrol. OR Less than 3 years experience in a large scale Customer support Center or Support Desk Environment. Solid skills in the use of MS Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel. Working knowledge of issue ticketing and reporting software such as Remedy or Service Desk required. Should possess very good verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or zero to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
