The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Principal Engineer, Video Systems for our System Integration and Test Department. This position will work closely with our Video Applications Operations team as well as the Converged Technology Development teams to validate vendor provided video infrastructure platforms for our video services. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Essential Job Functions:

The Principal Engineer, Video System Certification will have a variety of responsibilities related to the support of multi-vendor cable infrastructure certification for critical video infrastructure platforms. The responsibilities include:

- Principle Lead of the integration and certification testing of the following platforms:
o DAC and associated components
o DNCS and associated components
o Next Gen Conditional Access Systems
o DAVIC Network
o ADSG
o Aloha networks
o Emergency Alert Systems (EAS)

- Actively involved in roadmap planning for core video systems

- Creation and execution of integration and certification test plans for the above systems against the exiting TWC infrastructure

- Lead a small, focused team of senior engineers to execute integration and certification tests on video infrastructure systems to include
o VOD Servers and Systems
o Broadcast Carousel Servers
o Switched Digital Video Systems

- Remote Conditional Access and Netcrypt devices

- Other Tasks and duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

- Knowledge of the system controllers for both Cisco and Motorola and how they operate within TWC video systems is critical.

- Specific understanding of the issues that face these components and the leadership to drive their evolution is critical.

- The candidate must have:
o Excellent oral and written communication skills.
o System and operational experience using these systems.
o Leadership to drive vendors to implement solutions of these complicated systems.
o Drive to separate the specific issues from the noise and the certitude to hold the course.
o Inter-department experience and knowledge of TWC internal processes.
o The ability to get things done across the TWC organization.

- Candidates must have 7+ years of direct system usage, integration, or administration experience

- Must be able to demonstrate analysis/assessment and problem-solving capabilities

- Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required.

- Must be able to work well both within a team but also show individual assertiveness in finding/solving problems.

- Must be able to handle several tasks, organize, document, make decisions and work efficiently and effectively under deadlines.

- Strong desire to learn and share knowledge.

- Extended and flexible work schedule is a requirement of the job.

Preferred Qualifications:


- The self-motivated drive to operate and execute the goals of the team.

- Strong time management and organizational skills

- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

- Good prioritization skills

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

Lead: Assigns, trains, schedules or oversees work of others.

Travel Requirements:

Travel 10 %
