Microsoft Systems Engineer/Architect

Join the Microsoft Infrastructure Architecture team of a large enterprise located in Chevy Chase, MD. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position; the intention is to convert to permanent, salaried employee at 6 months. Assist with design and architecture of a Dynamic Data Center implementation.
- Research, analyze and recommend technologies, frameworks, and other approaches. Define architectural solutions, write and maintain reference architectures, and collaborate with solutions and architecture teams to communicate and inject reference architectural into solution design.
- Build and maintain relationships with solutions, infrastructure, architecture and operations teams
- Participate in governance, including selecting, implementing, and enforcing frameworks and procedures that improve the efficiency and effectives of architectural enforcement in solution design and development. - Review, understand application UML diagrams and asses and document deployment requirements for that application. CANDIDATES WILL CONVERT TO PERM AFTER 6 months.

Overtime: straight time - 3+ years of experience in a senior engineering role

- Broad understanding of the Microsoft solution platform, including Windows Server, Hyper-V, Active Directory, .NET, IIS, SQL Server, Exchange Server, BizTalk Server, AppFabric, Azure, Virtual Private Cloud, Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, Project Server.
- Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, define, and write reference architectures and gain consensus among stakeholders.
- Understanding of the concerns involved in infrastructure and operations management.
- High level understanding of IT Service Management, ITIL, MOF
- 2+ years IIS
- 4+ years SQL Server
- 2+ years .NET Development
- Demonstrated ability to manage day to day execution of solution definition and maintenance with moderate to minimal supervision. Ability to escalate and resolve issues when appropriate.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - including verbal, written, and presentation. Ability to tailor communication to audience.
