As Platform Technical Architect, you will play a central role in the technical direction of our company's core platform, the foundation of all the consumer-facing systems. You†ll work under the guidance of the Director of Engineering to architect and develop critical applications and services. The ideal candidate will be an experienced technology leader, passionate about software engineering and building fantastic products. You should have a strong background in building sophisticated, high-volume websites with Java. Working with other engineers within and outside of your team, you†ll set the standard for development velocity, code quality and technical excellence.

What you'll need:
You'll need an impressive track record of designing and developing large scale, high performance sites while advocating for good long-term platform architecture, plus:
• 8 to 10+ years of hands-on Java software development experience
• Experience in engineering leadership roles, including establishing best practices, creating core architecture for a site and mentoring more junior engineers on the team
• Ability to discover and apply new and established technologies creatively to meet business needs
• Ability to span high-level system architecture to writing very high quality code
• Experience developing SOA and RESTful web services
• Experience with Java EE, Jetty/Tomcat, Spring, Hibernate, Jackson and other open source Java technologies
• A deep knowledge of Linux/Unix; fluency in Shell scripting
• Experience with Agile development practices and TDD
• Evangelist and mentor for software development CI/CD best practices, leveraging tools like Maven, Jenkins and Sonar
• Desire and ability to learn quickly, take professional risks, and operate in fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Superior analytical and problem solving skills
• Comfortable dealing with uncertainty, ambiguity and change
• Preferred: experience working on high-scale content management, information retrieval (Solr/Lucene specifically) and digital asset management systems
• Preferred: Experience with workflows and message queuing systems such as RabbitMQ or Kafka
• Preferred: MongoDB, Memcached, Hadoop ecosystem experience
•Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field, Master's degree preferred.
