The Senior IT Project Manager - Initiatives role focuses on leading and executing multiple projects and programs within the GE Capital Rail Services organization. This individual is responsible for partnering with business partners and IT stakeholders in devising solutions to complex business problems that both meets the business need but is a sustainable IT solution. Once solutions are identified, this role creates plans and a project team to lead the project beginning with project team stru Essential Responsibilities: The Senior IT Project Manager - Initiatives role focuses on leading and executing multiple projects and programs within the GE Capital Rail Services organization. This individual is responsible for partnering with business partners and IT stakeholders in devising solutions to complex business problems that both meets the business need but is a sustainable IT solution. Once solutions are identified, this role creates plans and a project team to lead the project beginning with project team structure and resource assignment, and ending with a control plan identifying both business process metrics and IT platform quality requirements.
Responsibilities:
Owns transformation of enterprise application area business requirements into technical specifications and delivering solutions. Engages and collaborates with Quality and business teams to deliver solutions. Drives all phases of IT Project Development cycle including process analysis. Performs project management of all tasks and resources, estimating and tracking progress against individual plan, and monitoring development activity to overall enterprise plan. Develops effective communication strategy across projects and constituency.
- Leads IT project teams on key business initiatives.
- Develops upon and maintains current technology stack in line with overall IT strategy.
- Manages project staff to ensure quality deliverables are completed on time & on budget.
- Evaluates & signs off on all new and current designs in coordination with architecture staff.
- Creates, communicates, and manages the project plans and other required project documentation providing updates as necessary.
- Ensures compliance of application release management, outage management, & change control processes/standards.
- Partners with the business to learn about business challenges and acts as a thought leader to brainstorm solutions and overall project roadmaps. Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor's degree (or 4 years equivalent work experience) with 5+ years IT experience

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
- Working knowledge of current technologies and experience developing and executing project plans. Demonstrated success at project management.
- Possesses analytical and negotiation skills. Possesses project management skills and presentations skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills; self-directed.
- 4+ years of work experience in web technologies, User/Data Interaction, Legacy Mainframe systems and interface technologies such as web services and ETL.
- Exposure to integration efforts of complex enterprise application systems Ability to work in a Matrix team environment.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies and their application in an IT environment.
