Job Description: Systems Monitoring Technician

CGI Federal, a wholly owned subsidiary of CGI, has an opening in Cleveland, OH for a Systems Monitoring Technician. Overall, this person will monitor core backbone infrastructure, performing triage and root cause identification and ensuring that all required groups are engaged to ensure timely and efficient resolution of any network/servers/systems events. In addition, this person will be responsible for internal communications related to network/servers/systems events, issues and outages. Specific duties will include the following:
- Monitor infrastructure and facilitate incident and problem resolution
- Monitor security alerts of potential attacks detected by security systems such as Intrusion Detection & Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS,HIIDS/HIPS), Log Monitoring, File Integrity Monitoring
- Monitor network, server, and application environments with SNMP, WMI,Syyslog, System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and other tools, correcting or escalating issues as they arise
- Monitor network systems including server applications, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, storage devices, cabling, and other network equipment
- Create various reports regarding bandwidth, website and port usages and server utilization to assist future planning
- Determine and classify the severity of alerts and assess potential impacts
- Report and investigate potential security incidents; leverage support desk ticketing platform to track incident and problem resolution

To be considered for the role, applicants must have a majority of the following skills, knowledge and qualifications:
- Possess or pursuing a degree in IT or equivalent experience
-Strong technical problem-solving abilities and excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Strong customer service orientation and sense of urgency
-Ability to multi-task
-Ability to communicate complex technical problems concisely and professionally
-Ability to assess the impact of different Systems, Application and Network problems on end-user services.
-Ability to apply general knowledge of network and computer processes, technologies and systems in support of troubleshooting and completing requests
-Ability to work in a team environment.
-Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office products; proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, particularly Excel and Word

Desired qualifications include the following:
-Certifications A+, Network+, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA
-NOC experience in Real Time transaction
