Description:

Network Engineer to support Defense Red Switched Network (DRSN) Operations and Maintenance at the Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center (MDIOC). The position is on the JRDC program at Schriever AFB, CO. This position is contingent upon task award.

The Engineer and manage all aspects of the MDIOC DRSN and Digital Small Switch (DSS) networks. The Engineer will design engineering changes and upgrades, perform network anomaly analysis, generate/provide status reports (written and verbal), and evaluate security vulnerabilities. Provide standardized, configuration management for the MDIOC DRSN/DSS infrastructure and administer MDIOC DRSN/DSS infrastructure configuration management. Generate and update status tickets. Shift work and limited travel may be required

Qualifications:
REQUIRED:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of experience in all phases of software development including requirements analysis, design, code, test and integration. Must be able to program in C++, have a strong understanding of Object Oriented software development and have a basic understanding of UNIX and/or Linux. Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment. Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills. Must currently have, or able to obtain, a DoD Secret Clearance.

DESIRED: BS degree in IT and a minimum of 8 years related experience. Must have a Red Switch certificate of training with a minimum of 2 years of Red Switch experience, or 4 years of Red switch experience may be substituted for the Red Switch certification. Must have leadership experience and an ability to work individually or within a team environment. The ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and good communication/interpersonal and leadership skills. Must be able to document and enforce processes and procedures. Capable of developing training scenarios and documentation to build expertise among team. Ability to run shift with little management input. Strong technical and hands-on experience working with the DRSN and DSS networks to include engineering, troubleshooting, developing Local Service Requests (LSRs), Change Requests, circuit diagrams, and line button layout sheets. Experience with Private Branch Exchange (PBX) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony. Strong knowledge of various protocols for data transmission (RS-232, RS-530, T1), and operation of the encryption hardware used in the DRSN/DSS networks. Knowledgeable of DSX equipment panels and associated wiring, fiber optic cabling, connectors and termination techniques, metallic cabling, connectors and termination techniques. Security+ certification to meet DoD 8570.1-M requirements at the IAT-II level required. Candidate must have or be able to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
