Description

On-Call rotation; Including Holidays and Weekends.

Summary

Provides SQL Server-based expertise in support of Production TSYS Back End databases. Ensures high availability, optimal performance and advanced planning of future growth trends as they relate to ensuring client application uptime. Participates in on-call rotation and is heavily engaged with architectural and performance tuning discussions and projects with major stakeholders within the organization. Works with other DBA team members to ensure cross-training throughout the breadth of SQL technologies and performs within the confines of formalized change control processes.

Responsibilities Include:

Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system
Work to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high resilience and performance tuning
To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime (SQL Server 2005/2008)
Responsible for providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management
Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of SQL development
Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades
Responsible for implementation and release of database changes according to agreed timescales and costs

Required Job Skills:
Experience with SQL Server 2005 and/or SQL 2008/R2
Experience in Large Volume Database (Minimum 1 TB)
Experience with high availability solutions, database mirroring, performance tuning
Working knowledge and experience using SQL Profiler, Netmon and other 3rd party monitoring tools
Working knowledge and experience with disk layouts and architectural considerations
Working knowledge and experience in planning Disaster Recovery mitigation strategies
Ability to effectively multi-task in a changing environment
Solid troubleshooting skills and the ability to troubleshoot software, hardware, and networking issues
Clear written communication skills
Good understanding of security groups, OU's, and user privilege maintenance

Highly Desirable Job Skills:
Experience with Server 2012
SQL Server Auditing planning, implementation and support
SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) implementation and administration
SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) package design and execution
Active Directory experience in a multi-domain, multi-forest environment
Prior experience with distributed application implementation and Prod/Staging/Test environment deployments.
Prior experience with load-balanced/scale-out deployments on VM-based ESX hosts
Ability to originate or edit scripts (PowerShell, TSQL

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Four year college degree and 4 or more years professional experience or 6 or more years professional experience. Appropriate TSYS experience is preferred.
