About the Opportunity
Design and implement performance tuning and functionality enhancements for Retail Databases. Provide 24x7 maintenance and support of all Retail Database Environments. Install Database environments to meet the needs of a fast growing and dynamic organization.

Responsibilities
* Support all versions of SQL Server Database environments.
* Support (learn) all versions of Netezza (Pure Data)/IBM Database environments
* Support (learn) all versions of Informix Database environments
* With Sr. DBA assistance installs, tests, maintains, and documents database management systems, utility programs, monitoring tools, etc.
* Modifies existing and/or creates new software for specific enterprise requirements; provide technical support for the applications and/or systems and/or operations staff
* Supports the installation planning for applications program requirements and coordinates the corresponding changes
* Work to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high resilience and performance tuning.
* Performs Software product evaluation, including planning, installation, testing, and technical support for the applications
* Provide direction and assistance to the subordinate technical and applications development staff. Assures the proper integration of all software within his/her area of responsibility
* Support Triole and WebDoc Problem & Change Management systems
* Identify, document and support database backups, disaster recovery and operational procedures
* Schedule, communicate, perform, and manage change control in an enterprise which supports/effects multiple hardware and software platforms
* Provide primary or secondary 24 hour a day, 7 day a week emergency on-call support as requested
* Provide and support database management in an environment requiring availability of 99.9%

Qualifications
* BS in Computer Science, or equivalent technical training and experience
* 1-2 years SQL Server Database environments/experience
* 1-2 years UNIX operating systems basics
* 1-2 years ESQL/C programming experience helpful
* Ability to effectively understand, communicate and relate to other team members as well as all levels of the organization
* Ability to understand technical manuals, software specifications, hardware principals of operations and systems software operations
