Software Engineer
Location: East Haven, Connecticut

Summary:
The Software Engineer will perform Back End development, test, maintain Innovation software application, conduct system level tests, troubleshoot customer issues, and correct software defects.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy new software solutions, enhancements, and bug fixes.
- Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
- Run and monitor performance and quality tests on new and existing software for the purposes of correcting mistakes, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
- Develop and maintain user manuals, training materials, and documentation.
- Plan phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) for a variety of projects.
- Lead in the preparation and documentation of software requirements and specifications.
- Model business and application processes based on findings through use case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and data models.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Technology related field (strongly preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 1 to 3 years' related experience.
- Proficient with PERL, mod perl, Object oriented PERL, PERL regex UNIX Shell scripting.
- Proficient with CSS and Java script scripting.
- Strong in Linux, Linux/BSD command line skills, understanding of Linux environment/Kernel calls.
- Proficient in XML, XSLT, and XPATH.
- Prior hands on experience with full software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Must have experience with Source Code Management systems such as SVN or CVS.
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio (for documenting flows/diagrams).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills for figuring out how different software components work together.
- Ability to quickly understand the entire system and all of its interactions.
- On short notice must be able to tackle macro problems and dive into the different parts of the system effectively.
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including Technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
