Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY
Analyzes, develops and implements complex database designs, data models and logical data specifications with limited direction from management. Projects are medium to large in scope, typically cross functional and technically difficult, sometimes involving combinations of platforms and computing environments. Interacts with business leaders and application development staff to ensure corporate data is developed, maintained and used appropriately throughout the corporation

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze, develop and implement complex database designs, data models and logical data specifications.Makes use of software methodologies and appropriate tools to design and implement the relational data structures.Provides comprehensive consultation to database administration, business analysts and client areas in resolving questions during the translation to a physical databasePerforms data modeling studies and develops detailed data models. Works with client and IS management and staff to establish and maintain consistent data element definitions across computing environments.Participates in the development and maintenance of corporate data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data dictionaries and data element naming standards and conventions for multiple computing environments.Provides data element naming consistent with standards and conventions and ensures that data dictionaries are maintained across multiple computing environments.Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective data related solutions for improved data integrity.Prepares written reports of findings and recommendations. Prepares business requirements reports, feasibility studies and cost justification statements.

Qualifications:

JOB SPECIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience. Experience in Health Care related industryExperience (usually 3 to 5 years) in data process and analysis and modeling, logical database design and business analysis. Data Modeling Certification and/or Database Design Methodology Certification preferredSignificant experience in Data Warehouse design and architectureAt least 3 years of experience of SQL programming and working with Unix operating systems.Strong familiarity of data analysis/database design technologies and tools, excellent analytical ability, judgment and problem analysis techniques.Previous experience in project management and team leadership/management is preferred.Excellent analytical ability, consultative, communications skills, strong judgement and ability to work effectively with clients, data processing managers and staff.Coventry Health Care is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer, and we are committed to building a talented and diverse team.IT:CB1
