Primary Objective(s)

We are seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer with experience testing complex software systems as part of an agile (Scrum) software development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of QA industry practices and proven experience working as a senior member of a quality assurance team. Experience with automated testing tools and procedures is required. Experience testing financial, banking, accounting or legal case management applications a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the test planning process for the software lifecycle from inception through implementation and maintenance, including reviews of iterative specs, architecture, designs, and code, to make a positive impact on the functionality, quality, and testability of key features.
- Work with QA team members, business analysts and software development to implement test driven development (TDD) strategy within scrum framework using Microsoft Visual Studio tools.
- Design and implement automated tests for functional, load, and scalability testing.
- Supervise, provide technical guidance and mentorship for junior team members, both local and offshore. Allocate resources and schedule tasks.
- Analyze existing software implementations and review existing tests for improvement, define additional tests for existing features as needed.
- Read, understand and use information from user stories to guide the QA team in designing and writing test cases for new features.
- Find, trace, and thoroughly identify defects; generating defect reports; working with QA team members and developers to help troubleshoot and resolve defects; and verifying corrective actions taken by the team.
- Review and update existing test procedures and suggest improvements, work with team and QA Management to update procedures.
- Investigate and recommend tool use, process improvements, and industry innovations.
- Provide accurate and timely status reports of current work progress.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- BS in computer science, computer information system and/or related fields, OR verifiable equivalent industry experience testing complex software applications.
- Minimum 5 years QA experience testing complex software applications.
- Ability to create and execute functional test cases and test plans, and review test cases and plans written by other team members.
- Proficient with relational databases, with a proven ability to write SQL queries; comfortable using SQL to validate data and generate test data sets.
- Experience using a primary computer language (such as VB.NET, JAVA, C/C++/C#, Javascript).
- Experience with Test Automation tools (Coded UI, SilkTest, Selenium, QTP, etc).
- Experience with Microsoft Exchange Server, CRM systems, IIS, Microsoft SQL Server, Windows networking.
- Proven ability to provide time estimates for tasks, set and meet deadlines, achieve goals and objectives within those estimates.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven ability to seamlessly work with people in remote locations via chat, phone, and web.
- Must be highly detail oriented with an ability to independently research and learn new concepts and technologies quickly.

Desired Knowledge & Qualifications
- Working knowledge of test management systems such as SilkCentral Test Manager (SCTM), Microsoft Test
- Manager (MTM) or HP Quality Center preferred.
- Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio tools (Visual Studio 2010 or 2012, TFS, Microsoft Test Professional, Microsoft Test Manager) for test creation and execution.
- Working knowledge of defect tracking and work item management systems such as Microfocus StarTeam, Microsoft TFS or similar.
- Experience testing financial enterprise, banking, accounting systems such as SAP or legal applications a plus.
- Development experience in VB.Net or C# are also a strong plus.
